I love having guests, and it was so fun to Matt, Emily, Owen and Ava come down to hang out with us. And lately all Saturdays are dedicated to the Treehouses, so they were gracious guests who let us work on the treehouse….
Here it is when we started with three floor boards down:
The boys didn’t care if the floor was done or not yet, they loved to be up there…
and there was plenty of digging in the sand, here is Owen,
And of course bug hunting
We worked hard, sawing, putting in screws, and measuring the floor boards, all day long…
I love this picture, we don’t have too many with both of us working on the treehouse.(thanks em)..
One of the highlights of the day, was a trip to the hardware store with Owen, my boys could care less about trips with me–I’m just there mom, so I was thrilled that Owen wanted to go with me, a perk of being an aunt. We had a good time, and got some free popcorn, which is always a perk. 🙂
We came back and made a picnic,
And then before they left, Toph, Tuck and Owen got a good game of the Jazz in…
If I am remembering right, Toph was Boozer,
Tru was D-Will and
Owen was A.K.
Good times, please come again Huffs!
So, after they left, we went back to the treehouse, and worked, worked, worked…
The boys stayed there with us, helping for a bit, as well as learning they can push large items down the slide,
As well as each other,
At about 6:00 PM, we finally finished the flooring, and took our first family photo in the treehouse, I was thinking it would be a fun tradition to take one there every year, but we’ll have to see if I can remember that!
We were pretty excited, but tired, I was too tired to cook, and needed to pick up somethings from Maceys, so off we went for a chicken dinner and soft serve icecream…
Here is a look at the finished flooring…
We’re getting closer!!!

So it’s not often that we all go out on the town for a night of crazy wildness with all four of us, so I had to document it!
We picked up Toph at the train station after work, the boys loved watching the trains come and go as we waited..
We went to go meet up with with My dad, mom and bro–Eric, but they weren’t there yet, so I went shopping for some new jeans
and a little something something for mothers day, (to be revealed more on Sunday)
Then off to dinner, we went to Fazoli’s, ’cause the boys wanted pizza–My little boys that is.
While sitting there, I realized one of the things I loved about my classy momma is how she always where the perfect accessories, look at those fun bracelets,
The crew,
Sharing the drinks,
Although Truman is getting bigger, he is still not to big to sit and eat on his daddy’s lap…
The Handsome boys of my family,
Toph, Tru, Eric, Tuck
Thanks for the delicious food grams and gramps,
We came home, and told the boys they could watch a few minutes of the Jazz game, (and maybe stay up late enough to see our guests who should be arriving shortly) but when we went to turn it on, this is what happened,
crying, because they were so tired and wanted to watch the entire game.
I just laughed, definely time for bed, they could see cousins in the morning~
It’s that time of year again, it’s time to wrap up school. Tucker has begun the wrap up process, and came home with a progress report the other day. I laughed and laughed until I cried when I read some of the things that were written down that he had said, including:
ZOO ANIMALS: Snake, lizards and buffalos (those are the animals I go to see at the zoo…buffalo?)
FARM ANIMALS: Worm, duck, cow ( I love that the first thing he lists is a worm)
DAD’S NAME: TOF
I guess it can be said at this house, we don’t think inside the box! After laughing so hard I cried, I then began to really cry when I read this sweet note from his teacher…
Why? although it was sweet words, it was also the realization that my first child is growing up and growing up well. I am proud of the person he is now, and the person he is developing to be. I love him deeply, and I love being his mother….
I am grateful for a teacher who remind me of my love and respect for my children as they grow up out of my sight in her classroom.
With my calling, one of the things that I am learning to Love and Love and Love some more is the Humanitarian Work. My friend Diane and I have been tying quilts together, and have talked many a time about the true blessings of humanitarian work, while we tie these quilts. And I can honestly say that I have always loved humanitarian work, but participated in it in a limited way. Now, I can say this is not true anymore. I feel like a blesses woman to be one of the ‘gathers’ in the ward for donations to our stake humanitarian project, as well as a donor.
As people drop off their projects (whether it’s crocheted booties, or hats, or flannel blankets, or school bags) I am at awe with these women who use their talents to bless the lives of others. As we say around here I have truely caught the ‘humanitarian bug’.
Everytime I look in the corner of my office, (which is currently filled with fleece blankets that need to be serged, but is often full of other humanitarian projects),
I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and peace. I encourage you all to participate in whatever way you can. It doesn’t take much, but knowing that I can better others lives with such a simple thing, is a wondeful thing. I can’t even begin to describe it, so get involved you’ll thank me, I promise!
It seems the birthday season is upon us. On my side of the family we have recently celebrated the four birthdays during this past month, Mom, Dad, Ikey and Belle. Here are some pictures of the celebration party!

I think I love birthdays so much, because it is a time to be together as a family and celebrate the individuals who make up our family. I feel so blessed to be part of this group of people whom I love so much.
What a busy day we had on Saturday….I love a productive day, but I love being with family even more, lucky for me, my day included both! We began by building the joists for the treehouse,
When we got a phone call from the Phillips saying they were on there way down to supervise the situation. Boy were we grateful to see them.
They showed us the right way to box in the tree,
Played with they boys
Fixed the truck (apparently it just needed a little bit of gas in the carberator, was all it needed, who knew?)
Mom and I got the whole mess of our future stream/fountain, all clean and virutally leaf free,
Got some lumber for the flooring of the treehouse,
while Toph and I purchased it, The Grandparents and Cat stopped by the lawn mower department
Toph learned how to trim the apple tree (it’s not done yet…)
They boys went and got their hair cut, and then got to take a trip for some new toys (and shirts) with Aunt Cat.
Lastly they read robot stories, and played with Grandma and Grandpa, (you can also see by the boys dirty faces, we had spagetti for dinner 🙂 )
(Can you tell you these boys are brothers? They look exactly the same after their haircuts)
It was a busy day full of good people.
Thanks for all your help Cat, Grandma and Grandpa!
-About Pete and how long he lived, and everything that goes with him…
-How bad I hate the smell of fish?
-And how looking at a dirty fish tank gives me the chills?
-How for some reason, in a child’s mind, putting fish flakes in the tank is the greatest thing ever, and gets requested at least 15 times a day by each child?
Did I forget:
-How having a pet makes children feel responsible and happy?
-About the smiles that come from fish that swim around, and do ‘tricks’ like swimming through the tunnel?
-How calmly and quietly kids can sit by a fish tank and just watch?
-The joy of pets?
Yes I did. For better or for worse. 🙂
Introducing Pete (Trumans new fish) He likes to hid under the filter and behind the shell, making it hard to get pics:
And Water (Tuckers fish):
I am choosing now not to forget these happy faces:
w!
This last weekend, the kids were at the Greene’s playing with there cousins, and it was so refreshing to spend the day in the back yard, enjoying the spring weather, getting the garden ready, working hard, and most especially being with my husband. I can’t even tell you how wonderful it is to get so much done, in an uninterrupted block of time…the word ‘productive’, doesn’t begin to explain how much we got done!
Because of this weekend, Tonight, we got the first item in our garden planted. Sugar Snap Peas.
As well as get some seeds planted, to keep inside, and hopefully start some seedlings, until the frost free date, when it is safe to plant outside!!
Hopefully this is a good start to a productive garden!
Friday afternoon we had a memorable lunch with daddy.
One thing I miss, since Toph has relocated to SLC, is our frequent lunches. When he worked just down the street, literally 4 minutes away, it was easy to get to him, with little planning. Now he is nearly 45 minutes away, our lunches are not as frequent, but let me tell you, they are a lot better in quality… I present our lunch, courtesy of the hard workers in the Church Cafeteria.
It was fate that we should have lunch there that day, you see they were serving Sausage and Sauerkraut. One of my favorite meals.
Truman himself choose out a “dog-dog”,
And of course, Tucker’s obvious choice was a meat and cheese sandwich. In his opinion, it’s the climax of all foods.
Let me state some of the reasons it was so memorable. Yes the food was delicious, but that’s not the only reason.
Every Friday, the cafeteria says that if you guess the correct weight/price of your icecream, you get it free. So, of course we got two of them, and I had no idea how much things weigh, so I left that to Toph. And let me tell you, I am married to the man who apparently has an hidden talent. He has won two weeks in a row. I was there, and witnessed it with my own eyes, and heard them ring the little bell. My husband is a champion. 🙂
The next reason it was so memorable was because of the things Tucker said. I don’t think I have laughed this hard in a long time.
The first thing he said just caught me off guard. We sat in a little alcove type area, where they have pictures of the First Presidency, as well as the Quorum of the Twelves Apostles pictures up. We looked, and noticed they had made the changes that had happened at conference, but the new Apostles pictures had not been put up yet. Tucker looked at them, and noticed there was not 12. He leaned over to me, in kind of quiet voice said. “Mom, I know why their pictures are not all up. Remember that one, who sold Jesus? (Meaning Judas Iscariot), I bet they took his picture down.” We might need to cover that Modern day Prophets and Apostles topic again!
The next thing he said was so funny, that Topher and I couldn’t stop laughing to tell him to speak quietly. (Actually, I kind of giggle while I am writing this). First let me preface this statement with my opinion: Kids have a different view of the world and people than we do. It is our jobs as parents to try to teach them how to act appropriately in public settings, and I am afraid, I didn’t do very good with this one.
Tuck: Dad did you see that guy?
Toph: Which guy Tuck?
Tuck: That guy who just went past. He had bum on his head.
Toph: I didn’t, but I wish I did, (kind of chuckling).
Tuck: Yeah, he went right around that corner.
Toph: Oh? (Still chuckling, trying not to laugh hard)
We continue eating, Toph and I are looking at each other from across the table, mouthing the words ‘bum on his head’, and trying not to laugh about this phrase, when Tucker looks up from his food, and spys the man again.
Tuck: (In a louder voice now) Look there he is, the guy with the bum head.
I admit. I couldn’t get it under control. I giggled like a silly school girl, so much so that I couldn’t tell my son to speak quietly. But if you would’ve seen this man, with a roll of neck fat underneath his bald head, Tucker’s description was a good one. Luckily, the man was far enough away I don’t think he heard him. Still, another topic to be covered. Speaking quietly, while appreciating peoples diversity. So overall, you can see why Lunch dates are definitely good times with dad.
