Still Famous…

If you’ve read this or this, you’ll know there has been a little bit of excitement around our home lately.

During January, Tucker again was honored, this time at the Regional Level for his reflection entry, again we couldn’t be prouder…
And as if this wasn’t a special treat in and of itself, his grandma and grandpa drove down just for the evening. It was a special evening, the other two little boys were at home with a sitter, and truly was a treat to spend so much time with this boy.

He was so excited to be there, he followed along in the program, so he’d know when to go up,

He looked so tiny up on the stage with the other honorees.

He was a little nervous, but mostly excited.

At the conclusion, they had the winners stand up, now he didn’t look so little anymore.

He may, or may not have done a silly victory dance after the ceremony was completed.

A little more serious,

And the proud parents and grandparents.

And to celebrate we went with Grandma and Grandpa to In And Out Burger (For their VERY FIRST TIME!)

We Love you Tucker Bean! Keep reaching for your dreams! We couldn’t be prouder to be your parents.

Explosive…

Seriously, when you think of little boys, a MUST part of ‘traditional boyhood’ is Volcanos right?

The Great Hunsakers picked out the perfect present for the boys, we had so much fun doing these Volcanos, (they’re called pocket volcanos, how fun is that!!) and even tied in some gospel discussion with it, reacting vs. acting to the situations that come our way.

So much fun! Thanks again Great Hunsakers!

A New Look for Our Little Dude.

Since his first birthday, we’ve gotten the A-okay to give Elliot all food. It’s been so fun to introduce them to him, and honestly, is there anything cuter than a baby slathered in food?

And although we are having a great time with him discovering food, we’re also having fun watching him discover what isn’t food too…

Right here, Right now.

Motherhood is made up of the moments. (Might not be that shocking to the rest of you, but it was to me, as I really thought about it)

There are so many moments that I just LOVE being a mother. I have been thinking about this ALOT lately, and I have found that these moments are where I find the true Joys of motherhood.

I have decided that there is no greater gift I can give my children than loving them all, and loving my job taking care of them, and telling them this and showing them this. OFTEN.

So, here are my boys, the right here’s right nows, as I have been really trying to focus on more of this.

TUCKER
The one I miss sharing these moments with, as he is gone so much at school. But I must mention that he is LOVING school, which makes me happy. As any parent, happiness in your children is truly satisfying. I hope his love and desire for education can continue.

He makes me laugh inside daily. He has a funny sense of humor and loves to crack jokes, and be silly. Unfortunately, like most 7 year old boys, it’s currently potty humor and the such. Hence the laughing inside from me.

Most days out of the week, when the weather is not frigid, he comes walking out of his classroom after school, with a puffy backpack. And even though I am shivering he happily bounces along with his coat stuffed comfortably in his pack.

I love to see the sweet tender moments shared between brothers as Tuck often reads Truman to sleep at night after our nighttime routine. They have been enjoying Encyclopedia Brown, Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones and currently The Adventures of Captain Underpants.

He has recently discovered the phone at the school office. In the past few weeks he’s made some phone calls. How strangely wonderful to come home to his voice on my answering machine…

And the Robots, of course, we still love the robots.

TRUMAN

Is positive that dogs say ‘barf’, and can be heard running through the house yelling BARF, BARF, BARF in his attempts to change Elliots view of what dogs say.

I have recently taken up Yoga, and is so fun to have a little companion who occasionally joins in with me. But I had to chuckle as he described our exercising to Tucker, she spends alot of time moving her arms slowly and carefully, and staring at the floor like this. (Getting in the downward dog position).

Is the example of patience as he has a little brother who loves to be with him, and mess up his toys.

A monumental moment for me is that we went a WHOLE WEEK with Trumans clothes all on the right way, and he has decided that it is not as itchy to wear them correctly.

Has totally changed from my little preschooler into such a sweet little boy. He is always so thoughtful, and considerate of others feelings. When he knows someone is sad, he is the first to be next to them with his arm around them. I never tire of seeing his compassion. But don’t be fooled, sometimes this little boy is grouchy..but with the right words, that frown can still be flipped upside down!

ELLIOT

The one whose age makes me want to just put him in a bubble, as he changes so much from day to day. He still LOVES going up and down the stairs, and often days as I carry laundry up and down he’ll spend a good twenty minutes climbing up, then lifting his limbs and slide down on his belly.

He’s also become a little mischievous on the stairs, anything that is near the top of the stairs, or near the landing gets tossed to the bottom of the stairs. This is especially true of shoes. Tucker’s boots are his favorite to throw down.

Anything that is in his reach, he loves to explore it, like rice for example…

When he wants to play peekaboo, he’ll cover his cheeks next to his ears instead of his eyes. But he still wants you to cover your eyes.

Is madly, deeply in love with ANIMALS especially Dogs and Chickens. He will look out our front window for our neighbors dog Bear, and if he’s there, the whole family (and if the window is open most the neighbors) know, as he screams DOD! DOD! DOD! He’ll scream it until Bear is out of sight. He also loves our chickens, and can now say a word which we understand as chicken. It sounds something like Hack-in.

Has discovered how to really climb. At church this week (Stake Conference) he figured he could climb through the back of a folding chair and turn around to get down, then crawl to the row infront of us, and he just kept going. I think he went 7 rows or so, before he was tired of that game. He also climbed out of his walker today. I have a feeling this boy might be part monkey.

It’s also so fun to hear his vocabulary growing. Daily I hear Shoes, Bob, More, Chicken, Dog, Mom and Dad. He’s learning how to say Tuck and Tru. He points to them, but the word is never exactly the same, but its fun to hear the meaning in his voice.

FAMILY
At the beginning of the year we began a new Chore Type System. After many years of trying to create our own system, and having it work in some areas and not in others, it has been awesome to see this one work so well. It already has been a life changing event for our family in the month we have done it. It provides the children with visual reminders of what they need to do, and I have enjoyed not having to be the Nagging Mommy anymore, leading to much more love in our home.

We are looking forward to spring, and being outside in our yard more, especially the backyard. I have a feeling Elliot is going to jump right in with his big brothers in playing with those chickens and digging in the sandbox.

Wow, that was a long post. Sorry about that, I did not intend for it to be that long. If you read it, I should make you cookies or something 🙂 Man that was long!

The M Birthdays

Although Miles can’t read, and I am pretty DANG sure that Mike doesn’t read my blog, I still want to wish them happy, happy birthdays!

Both Miles and Mike live in different states from us, and we don’t get to see them and their families as often as we would like, but we still LOVE them!

Happy Birthday Miles!

And Happy Birthday Mike!

Nine Wonderful Years…

I have been purging at my house. Nothing is safe.

I found an old day planner last week, and although the calendar, and all of the other pages were gone, I found a few old ‘bookmarks’ that made me smile, and remember the days that seem so long ago.

On one of our first dates, to the Homecoming Dance.

And another one at Yellowstone, like 5 years ago?

Coming across these (especially the homecoming pictures) made me just giggle out of pure happiness.

Time goes by some much quicker, the older you get.

And after nine years, and looking back, I can say, I thought I new what Love was then. But it’s nothing compared to what I feel now.

It’s been a whirlwind of wonderfulness.
Love you forever sweets.

HAPPY 9 YEARS!

And it happened…

Remember this post?

Well, he joining in now. And Truman is THRILLED to finally have someone who really enjoys banging these action figures together!
(try as I might, I am a girl at heart, and don’t enjoy the fighting aspect of toys! I think these people should be played like I did with barbies. But nope, my boys like to get those bad guys! And even though the planet heroes save the day in mostly non violent way, somehow someone is still jumping on someone elses head..ah, the wonders of boys.)

Snow Days, dreamy days.

a Saturday with no place to go + newly fallen snow = SNOW DAY!

Elliot spent the morning at the window, staring at the beauty of the world covered in snow.

A snow fort was built (complete with a front and back door)

Tophs back half

And his front.

Tuck

Tru

And it was big enough for them both near the end

Snowball fights (when your boys are sneaky, and you get ambushed, you get hit by a few snowballs 🙂 )

And lastly a TALL snowman constructed. (I wish I could say I helped more with the construction, but all I did was help lift the 3rd snow ball on) It was an awesome huge snow man. Taller than Toph.

The boys gave instruction on the placement of everything…

Isn’t he sweet?

Ta-Da!

And it was special too, because it was Elliots first snowman.

But truth be told, it really was just the carrot that he cared about.

With days like this, and fluffy, clean white snow, I often questions, what’s not to love about winter? Unfortunately, everyday can’t be a snowy, dreamy day!

Silly, Silly, SILLY boys.

One Sunday evening, I was off running some church errands, and left Toph and the boys at home.

It was getting late, so Toph began to put Elliot to bed, the other boys were playing happily together.

Usually when they are playing quitely and together, there is a tad bit of scheming involved. This Sunday night was no exception.

I returned as Toph was headed back upstairs, and together we saw these two cuties.

They wanted to Dress up like their Dad, and we’re so proud they’d done it mostly by themselves)

I mean what, does that not just melt your heart? And of course, we couldn’t pass up the great photo op, right?

SERIOUSLY? How many times am I going to be able to take pictures of my children in clothes that are puddled at their feet?

The crazy thing for me to think about is, someday they’ll actually fit in these clothes,

But for now, I’m grateful for two silly, silly boys!
