For me to Remember–

“The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no monuments created in our honor. But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around. It’s overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt.”
–Leo Buscaglia
A good reminder, and a happy thought leading into conference weekend…

Truman is 3?!?!?

How time flies, and too quickly does it fly. My little boy, Truman, is one year older. I swear he was just born, but that can’t be, because babies don’t constantly request things by saying, “Mom, put me down, I want to walk, I’m not a baby!” or “I’m a big boy mom, I’m like a big brother, I’m not a baby.”
3bdayboy.jpg
Things I love about Truman:
–Right now, he loves the story of Sampson and Delilah. He asks me to tell him about it often, especially when his hair is cut.
–At night time after I put him to bed, he will swing his feet off his bed, and read books sitting up, using the nightstand as a table.
–Truman has such a caring heart, is full of compassionate.
–He is constantly looking to his best friend and big brother Tucker.
–Truman is happy to be one year older, because that means he’s almost as old as Tucker.
–Loves his classes, which constist of a nursery, weekly playgroup, and library reading time.
–He loves Baby Einstein Movies, and at our weekly library reading time, always chooses one to check out to take home…
–For some reason, Truman thinks that he learns everything in nursery, and is always saying things like “I learned that at nursery class, or I sing that song at nursery class” Most of the time, it is things that he probably shouldn’t be learning or singing in nursery class! Silly Boy.
Happy Birthday Big Boy! We love you!

Who gives a What?

So, last week was Tuckers Annual Movie and Parent day at his preschool. Of course, when asked the question, who would you like to have go with you, the answer was naturally Dad.
tuckntoph.jpg
With Christopher being gone for business trips, I realized how strong an influence he has on our children, as well as the calming influence he has on me. I often forget this, and am grateful for the reminders, which often come with his absence.
So although Tuck and Toph were off to go see “Horton Gives a Who”, it is actually us who gives a who–we’re blessed to have him in our lives.
By the way, the boys had a fabulous time together, and from what I understand, Horton was a good movie!

Sweet is the Work…

So recently, between a traveling hubby, Crazy Children, and a New Job, I have been so grateful for the opportunity to do some Relief Society Work, it truly is sweet, and brightens my soul, just like candy does, but a lot healthier. 🙂
Our ward is preparing for a big humanitarian open house, this is one Humanitarian Baby Blanket (My great Friend Diane helped me to tie, while the kids played, Thanks again Diane!)
blankets.jpg
Do you like the cat material? Truman chose it out, and Tucker choose out the back to match. I guess it could’ve been worse–BUT I had a vision of a darling blanket (Pink, because I never get to buy Pink, and it was going to be girly, and darling). HONESTLY, I am sure whoever receives it will be grateful for the warmth it gives. That is the most important part, right?
Relief Society Welcome Packets for the new sisters who have moved in:

Relief Society Hankerchiefs for the YW transitioning to RS:

Also, we had an Enrichment activity based around ‘Relief’: Preparing now, so that when the turmoil hits, we’ll be prepared. It was based around our Stake Goals, We gave them oil to take home to place in there 72 hour kits, I was in charge of filling all of these little containers, Toph consecrated them.

I am grateful for a creative outlet, but I am even more grateful for a creative outlet that blesses other lives. Mostly I am grateful to be a part of the work.

7 Years Ago Today….

We began an adventure, that has been one of the best I have ever experienced!
weddingone.jpg
Here are 7 facts about Christopher that I didn’t know about him 7 years ago.
1- Christophers favorite music to really sing and “belt out” is Church Music. He claims that it is because he knows all the words, but if you ever hear him singing, you’ll know that sometimes he can be a little creative in the lyrics section.
2-One of his favorite foods, that we still talk about often, is Italian Yogurt Gellato, who would have ever thunk it?
3-That being a father is one of his many talents, and something that just comes naturally to him. I have rarely seen him not know how to handle a situation, and if any thing, he is better at just laughing about it, and seeing the reality and humor in our children!
4-That he is okay not having a daughter named Madaline.
5-That his job and skill set for work will constantly be “in demand”, providing us with job security, as well as many moves. (Can you say 9 times in 7 years? CRAZY)
6- Speaking of talent, he was a “Grand Champion Pig Show-man”…now that is real talent! (he claims his pig was in a good mood that day, but we all know that daily walking your pig, does wonders for your “pig to human relationship”)
7- The last 7 years, have never had a dull moment, and Christophers’ Spontaneity, Thoughtfulness, and Creativity, always keep me on my toes, and I can’t wait to see what the next 7 years hold!
Happy Anniversary Hubba!

Ice skating… Olympics here we come?

grams1.jpg
My Mom’s Cousin, Patty, works for a Rec Center, so for her Christmas Party, she invited friends and relatives to a skating party. She had rented a skating rink for an hour, and since I didn’t anticipate my children enjoying skating too much, we showed up a few minutes late.
My Mom and Dad met us there, after we got our skates on, I took Tucker out, just me and him. And my mom took out Tru–Toph was parking the car, and I guess dad isn’t a big iceskater 🙂
Patty saw us trying to balance the children and promptly brought us over a couple stacks of 5 gallon buckets, that were just the right height for our boys. I didn’t know what she was doing, but then I quickly learned.
The kids could lean against the buckets, and propel themselves.
This is the best thing I have ever seen! Our boys had so much fun! They skated independently, occasionally I had to put them back on their buckets, but mostly they just chased each other, and believe it or not, Truman was faster than Tucker.
When the time was up, they both started to cry, because they wanted to keep going.

Here is some video Toph got of the boys, it was near the end of the skating session, they both fell off their buckets, but you can kind of see why they had so much fun:

We’ll definetly be going ice skating again!

Thankgiving Day…

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year at the Phillips Home. So of course, we had a great time and ALOT of delicious food.
But before the Thanksgiving feast began, there was another important Phillips Family Thanksgiving Tradition we all participated in… making Turkeys out of Candy. An important and yummy tradition in my book.

And of course, an upclose look at a turkey.

And the Grandkids with Grandpa.

The food is always the center of this holiday, Here is a picture of the Ladies, their pies and the Fruit Salad.

And a close up of my first Pecan Pie…

After the dinner was done and cleaned up, we decided it would be fun to see a movie, so the ladies went to see “Dan in Real Life” leaving the menfolk home with the children, later they would see “Beowulf”. And later us women would doubt them as we left them half asleep, and the children running all over. Note to self, next year remember to wake hubby up completely before leaving 🙂
Us in the Car:

(we took like 10 pictures of Em and Jo in the Front Seat of the Car, but this is the only one where Jo is looking at the Camera, a little blurry I know, but I am grateful Jo was keeping her eyes on the road. Safety First!)
What a Fun Day!

Just the 2 of us….

As for now, my and the Mac seem to be getting along pretty nicely.

We spent almost 16 hours trying to get help together with the nice people on the Apple Help Line, then many hours just the two of us trying to get things fixed over the past few weeks.

Most of the Kinks have been resolved, so, HOPEFULLY, we can get caught back up to date with the BLOG….

Weekend At Grandma and Grandpa Phillips

I had a busy Relief Society Weekend Planned, and so instead of hanging out and being bored at home, the boys decided to go up to Logan, to be with Grandma and Grandpa Phillips, and a have a real good time.
Here are the pictures that were taken at Patricks Special Olympics Meet:

Do you remember doing this?

I cannot even tell you how many times I would call up my friends, and we would coordinate outfits.
Last Thursday this was not on purpose…but fun none the less…
