Sweet is the Work…

So recently, between a traveling hubby, Crazy Children, and a New Job, I have been so grateful for the opportunity to do some Relief Society Work, it truly is sweet, and brightens my soul, just like candy does, but a lot healthier. 🙂
Our ward is preparing for a big humanitarian open house, this is one Humanitarian Baby Blanket (My great Friend Diane helped me to tie, while the kids played, Thanks again Diane!)
blankets.jpg
Do you like the cat material? Truman chose it out, and Tucker choose out the back to match. I guess it could’ve been worse–BUT I had a vision of a darling blanket (Pink, because I never get to buy Pink, and it was going to be girly, and darling). HONESTLY, I am sure whoever receives it will be grateful for the warmth it gives. That is the most important part, right?
Relief Society Welcome Packets for the new sisters who have moved in:

Relief Society Hankerchiefs for the YW transitioning to RS:

Also, we had an Enrichment activity based around ‘Relief’: Preparing now, so that when the turmoil hits, we’ll be prepared. It was based around our Stake Goals, We gave them oil to take home to place in there 72 hour kits, I was in charge of filling all of these little containers, Toph consecrated them.

I am grateful for a creative outlet, but I am even more grateful for a creative outlet that blesses other lives. Mostly I am grateful to be a part of the work.

Aunt Cathrine Extraodinare…

So last weekend while at Ava’s Blessing Celebration, I overheard and then joined in a conversation between Emily Huff and one of her sister-in-laws. This sister-in-law casually stated, how lucky Emily was to have such great sisters. I have to agree with this statement, one of these amazing sisters is Cat.
She came and made this dull weekend, a bright sunny one…for me and the boys.
She took the boys to lunch, bowling and to the store.

While they were off ‘partying’ I had a break, some sanity, and a chance to catch up on a few things that had fallen behind.
Having thoughtful people around you sure makes life brighter.
We love you Cat, thanks again for all of your help!

Logan-town

We headed to Logan a few weekends ago, any excuse is a good excuse to go there. And our niece Ava was being blessed, so a perfect excuse…
ava.jpg
My mother-in-law Rhonda made the blessing dress, doesn’t Ava look beautiful in it? It was a special day.
Of course, my boys were happy to be there, too.

They loved to run and play with the cousins, as they do everytime we go. Sometimes I worry how Tucker is going to cope, now that Soph is not so close anymore, but I didn’t have to worry too much this time, because boys all love to do similar things, no matter their ages. Running, jumping and being exuberant, tops the list. (We still missed the other Phillips branch though)
Here’s a shot of em all at the end of the day…

(Tucker refused to turn around…)
Tucker also entertained himself with, what he called the ‘amazing dodger show’, here’s a movie. He did seriously entertain himself for quite a while the whole day, Sunday, laughing at the dogs, or trying to scare them. What could be better than a dog and a boy?

Also, Truman is making progress with the potty training business, here he is with his reward:

A fun trip was had by all, we still love our family, and being close enough to be together. 🙂

A quote to remember…

One of the great things of Tophs’ Job is the annual “An evening with a General Authority”, this year we went to the Tabernacle to hear Elder Packer speak.
As with anytime our Church Leaders speak, it was an amazing experience. There was one thing that Elder Packer said, that I really wanted to remember. He said many inspiring things, but this story, struck me to the core. These are not his exact words, but the words I remember.
med_packer09-1.jpg
He told us the story of a trip he (Elder Packer) went on with Pres. David O. McKay, when they arrived there was a mother there with her sick son. She wanted Pres. McKay to give him a blessing. In a very gentle way (as I said before I don’t remember the exact words) he directed her towards her local leaders, then said, something to the effect, If I give all the blessings that people requested of me, I wouldn’t be able to do the things ONLY I CAN DO.
It made me stop and think, what are those things that only I can do?
So often we see our prophets doing so many amazing things, It is also a powerful realization that they have too have to learn to say no and
take care of the things ONLY I CAN DO.
I have heard this same instruction before, but loved hearing about it, through the life and example of one of our prophets.

I don’t more if I am just noticing it more, or if Trumans truely has become more expressive with his face. I just love watching him express emotions with his face…

the Zoobalee Zoo…

So, when I was younger, I would watch this show…

Now every time we go to the Zoo, I can’t help but sing that song,
Wednesday was a Free Day at the Zoo, so we headed up to SLC. Naturally it was busy, but we had a great time, what’s not to love about the zoo?
Mapping out where to go–

Since it was kind of busy, I told the boys that they either had to be in the wagon, or holding hands together, this is how they spent most of the day, holding hands running from place to place, cute boys…

On the elephant Trunk–

Another Frog, nope still Tucker–

There favorite place was the Reptile House, the animals were surprisingly active there, most the snakes were awake, and it was also feeding day/time for alot of them. We spent alot of time there, and I have alot of pictures that look like this: Brothers staring and talking together.

Grand Adventures with us all–

I spy with my little eye…Binoculars–

The zoo is such a fun place, and as a child, it seems magical and HUGE. I am glad we were able to spend the day there.

If we were closer, I think we would live here…

alright, maybe not live here, just be here almost daily. I love this place, therefore more pics of this weeks FHE at the Childrens Museum. (Thanks again to the Great Hunsakers for our Christmas Present, we have already used it so much, that it has almost paid for
itself twice now…and it’s only February!)

Tucker discovered the Rock Climbing Wall, and did pretty good-

Tucker also discovered the Tube to talk through, as well as the telescope, always something new and fun here (even if it’s been here every time we’ve already come)!

We went to a class where we had to build a sail on top of a strip with Magnets, then see if it would sail….
We did one first as a family, which didn’t do so good,

So, then we re-did it.

Then Tucker made his own, by himself. It did the best of all three, what a smart cookie.

Here’s a movie: tucksail.mov
Then afterwords we met up with Eric, Amy and Dad for some good-eats at “Super Salad”.
Eric left before we got a pic with him, he’s a busy, busy working college student…

Matchey, Matchey, and Matchey…

So I have been noticing lately, that I dress myself and the boys the same, with out even realizing it.
Last week one day, I put us all in Red Tops and Jeans, (which my friend noticed, and asked if we were having family picures taken) then on Sunday I did this…
sweatervest.jpg
The boys in sweatervests, and cords, and myself in a sweater and cord skirt. I probably should have hopped in the picture, but it is funny that I don’t mean to, but yet, coordinate our outfits…

Oops,

So the other day, I went down to get Tru up from quiet time, and found this….
sweater.jpg
He has been pretty independent lately, getting himself dressed, undressed, jammies on, and etc.
But I guess during quiet time, he had tried to take his sweater off, by pulling it down instead of up. He had successfully gotten his arms out, but taken them through the head hole.
It took us like 5 minutes to get it back off the right way.
Can you tell by the look on his face, he was frustrated? But he was so patient, tell me, “Mom, we get it right next time.”
That is one thing about Truman, he mostly learns things the first time, and I betcha, he won’t make that mistake again!
