SPRING BREAK: the 26th floor

We met up with some friends and neighbors, and went up to the 26th floor, overlooking the city.

Covered with a fresh snow.

We’re lucky to have a good father who shares with us…

SPRING BREAK: Easter/Conference Weekend.

As previously mentioned, Tucker was home from school a lot the previous week, as he and Elliot both came down with Strep. A few days later, Toph wasn’t feeling well, and after a visit to the doctor, it was determined that he too, had Strep. During this time, I too, wasn’t feeling stellar, and began taking antibiotics too in fear that I too had strep, and I had a family to take care of! Anyone who knows Truman (and his health history) can attest to the fact that MIRACULOUSLY he was the only one who stayed healthy.

So due to illness, our Easter weekend plans were canceled. We did not travel to see family in Idaho and the Cabin, but we did get to watch and focus entirely on conference. Which of course, was really nice for that to be the focus of our entire weekend.

We did play a good trick on that Easter Bunny. He thought we were going to be at the cabin for Easter, and delivered the boys basket stuff there. So because we were so tricky, Easter Morning was a little different than usual. Luckily, he was able to drop off their big presents, here they are running down the hall:

Elliot got a ball:

And the big boys got scooters:

and after they had been delivered, we had some leftover conference candy we were able to hide in eggs, that the boys were happy to find.

In between conference sessions we took the new scooters for a spin around the park.

It was such a beautiful Easter Sunday, and the boys didn’t even really miss the Easter Bunny.

A great way to remember the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Hope your Easter was a wonderful one.

the DYE-ing of the EGGS

Traditions, traditions, traditions. FHE, the Monday before Easter is always egg dying time
Elli Belly, didn’t stay up to late this night, this was about all he got in on the action:

But Tucker and Truman tackled this job with Gusto.

So much so, I have 10 pictures of Tucker like this, he can’t even take his eyes off the eggs

They had a great time,

Tucker put smiley faces on all his eggs.

The only part I don’t like about dying eggs, is how no matter how hard I try to convince them to use the egg dipper thing, or the spoon, there fingers always end up like this.

Luckily it doesn’t usually last too long.

The colors this year, were simple, yet pretty.

And of course, the egg I’ve made every year since we were married, an important tradition in my book,

Truman was thrilled with his eggs, the end result

And I agree with Elliot, eating them the next morning for breakfast, is alway wonderful too!

Ready, Aim, Fire.

This activity (Dry Erase) Bulls Eye on our front window and a nerf gun consumed my children for HOURS one day.

I only wish I’d thought of it sooner.

Greene Celebrations.

Last Sunday we spent the day celebrating Ikey’s birthday and a early Easter, as the Greene family would be camping on the real easter holiday.

Grams always makes us yummy food for Sunday Dinners. This sunday was no exception. It was cornbeef and cabbage. Elliot thought it was yummy (he’s got a fork full of food to stick in as soon as that sippie get’s put down!)

I have so many memories of this cute little table from my childhood. Lemonade stands, coloring, arts and crafts. Fun to see Eli there.

Ikey turned the big 5,

His parents made this awesome cake,

And I love watching little kids opening presents,

And Truman even got a present from the Great Greenes. (Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Nancy. You know just what my boys love.)

After a walk around the neighborhood, the kids got their easter treats,

and they ate them the whole way home in the car.

Another great Sunday afternoon, spent with loved ones.

Grateful to spend more time with him…

This sweet boy was sick last week, and was home from school a lot. He’s feeling better now, and this week is Spring Break. With so much time off of school, I am grateful to say, we have finally settled into the ‘norm of no school routine’, and are doing well, and I am really enjoying having this sweet boy around.

In so many ways, it makes me so excited for summer!

April Fools!!!

Tucker was home from school sick, on April 1st, so he had NO IDEA it was April Fools day. I was tempted to do a trick on/with them all day long, but decided it would be best to wait until dinnertime so it would be the ultimate prank. And it was, thanks to the help of my neighbors who cooked up a storm with me.

The boys had no idea, when they sat down to this:

Chicken Nuggets: Animal crackers rolled in honey and cornflakes
Veggie Melody: Starburst, Laffy Taffy, and Air heads.
Ketchup: Strawberry jam
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy: Ice cream and caramel sauce

And then we had dessert:
Ice Cream Cones: Corn bread cone with a hot dog inside (so a corn dog) and mash potatoes.

To drink:
Jello with a straw.
And milk, the bottom half was frozen and the top was normal.

It was such a fun night.
At first, they knew our neighbor had given us the chicken nuggets, so they just thought they were different than what we usually have.

But then when they ate the veggies, and they were stuck together and tasted sweet, they were in on the joke.

I loved seeing their reactions,

and like I said, I don’t know if we’ll be able to ever beat the shock of this year!
