To the wonderful grandparents in our lives!
Love you all and thank you for all you do for me and my children!
To you, we owe so much of who we are.
Happy Grandparents day.

Happy Grandparents day.
We had a beautiful time at the Diana Crawl Concert at the Red Butte Gardens. The weather was beautiful, Elliot was in great spirits, and the music was delightful to listen to.
We were grateful for the Phillips (who were not able to attend the concert, and provided a beatiful place to stay at afterwords), and graciously offered us the tickets and reservations.
After getting things all set up for my RS Activity, (and Toph took care of the childcare (Aunt Amy to the rescue), packing for us, getting the house in order) we were able to literally zip away.
It was refreshing to be with just my sweetheart for awhile, and not have to put all the kids to bed.
Thanks again to Phillips and Amy for providing us with a night to remember.
The purchasing and preparing of school supplies…
It just seems to bring to life the excitement of the new school year, and the excitement of things to come.
Tuckers favorite school supply? His own hand sanitizer to keep in his desk.
Trumans favorite school supply? The big fat pencil given to him by his new teacher, to do his homework with.
Emilys favorite school supply? New moist markers, whose lids haven’t (yet) been forgotten to be put on, and therefore dried up. Followed closely by new crayons…oh how I love the smell and look of new pointy bright colored crayons.
A wonderful time of year.
Can’t we please just freeze time right now!!
Today Truman had his first day of Preschool. I am so proud of him, but I must admit, our house is so silent with him gone.
The things I am going to miss in the morning hours (While he’s at school):
the way he makes Elliot laugh just by saying “A—BOO!!”
Hearing him play planet heroes, and when the action figures talk to each other, they all use whisper voices, and then the high-ya! and psh! fighting noises too!
His constant hunger, I swear he has a hollow leg the way that kid can eat up snacks!
The sound of his bike tires on the sidewalk as he races around the culdesac
The sight of his sweet smiley face
His willingness to run errands with me, and be happy during those errands.
Building Kitty Houses out of my couch cushions constantly.
His sweet demeanor and willingness to give service to those around him, if it is at the grocery store or the a neighbors house, he’s always being aware of others and how to help them.
The constant questioning of ‘when is Tucker going to be home from school’ ?
Oh, and so many more things!
In Relief Society the other day, a woman whose 5th child just got married and ‘sent off’ said this about raising little kids: ‘You spend you’re whole life preparing them to leave you’. I guess this is just one of the many times I will be a little sad inside, as I am preparing my children…
I am so proud of him, but it doesn’t make it any easier for me to send him off or for me to realize that he just keeps on getting bigger, older, smarter, and handsomer!
Sing it with me now…
“Who can take a sunrise
Sprinkle it in dew
Cover it in chocolate
and a miracle or two?
The candyman
The candyman can
The candyman can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good”
We don’t have a local candyman, but we do have a icecream man.
Actually we have two of them. One is really nice, and stops when you want an icecream, has reasonable prices and is a nice guy, and honestly, the above song could be about him. The other one, well not so much. He makes you chase him around the block, and sometimes stops..but sometimes he doesn’t, and when he doesn’t you have sad children, who after having to run as fast as they can to get their money, and then having to run after the ice cream truck (usually around 2 blocks might I add) end up walking home sad, realizing how far they had to run, because they don’t have an icecream to distract them from their tired legs.
So the moral of this story is, only chase the nice ice cream man he makes the world taste good with his cheap icecream during the beautiful summer weather, because the other ice cream man is a meanie, who makes your children cry.
Because there are very few reasons I am excited for fall, but not seeing the meanie ice cream man is one of the few.
A Phillips family vacation would not be complete without a trip to the river.
Here’s our little traveler in his car seat,
We camped over night, had a fire, sang songs
went on a treasure hunt, to find a buried treasure (change (Coins), sea shells, and glass ‘treasures’ tilled into the sandbox)
The kids dug the whole weekend..
painted,
went on lawn mower rides with grandpa
enjoyed being together with our sweet nieces and nephews,
the kids watched a dvd,
We celebrated all the kids birthdays that fall with in a few weeks of each other (Dallin Paul, Sophie, Nora, Owen, Michael and Patrick…did I forget someone?)
and of course, floated the river..The boys are beginning to enjoy this more and more. Next summer I have a feeling, we’re not going to be able to keep them out of the water!
enjoyed being together
and relaxing
(Elliots’ got that mastered)
and Elliot enjoyed a scenic place for a nap…
and Cuddles from his grandma too
A great chance to be together as a family, thanks everyone for such a great time!!! And thanks for the MI Phillips for coming so we could have an excuse to have a great excuse to party and play!
We’re a large group, and with lots of little kids, that can be difficult to get a good picture. But somehow (thanks to Lexies Mad Photoshop Skills) We were able to get a great group shot,
And lots of great memorable little shots….
And the proud grandparents of all of these young-ins
Looking at all the pictures, I can’t help but say, we’re a fine looking group. Wouldn’t you agree?
I’m grateful to have amazing Sister in laws and mother in law. We got away just us ladies, we were wild and crazy, here’s what we did….
Rollerblading and Slurpees.
The Night was Awesome, besides the fact that I tried to kill my mother in law whilest doing a skating train. Sorry again Mom, I am glad you’re okay 🙂 )
(Pictures stolen from Cat’s Blog. Visit it if you want to see some awesome video footage of our skating skills. Thanks Cat!)
And thanks to my awesome-est sister in laws…I’m grateful to be counted among the Phillips Family Ladies.. 🙂
