Business School?

You always wonder what your children are going to grow up to be, or what they are going to decide to do with their lives, on Sunday Truman’s Appearance led us to think he might pursue business or banking…

Of course, if Tru is having his pic taken, Tuck wants in on the action….

Tuckers top choices of professions right now are: Dump Truck Driver, Teacher (he wants to share a classroom with Topher), “Video giver outer” (I think that means someone at a movie store, or maybe someone who drives planes.
Only time will tell if any of these things will be true.

What could be better than a trip to the Beach?

You wouldn’t think that there could be ANYTHING that could make a trip to the beach better….But take a look at this.
I heard about this story on the Radio, and continued to think about it all day long.
How Random is this? But Yet Tucker would have loved it…
He loves big Lego things

“Bless You”

Truman has a cold or Allergies I am not sure. He was sneezing all morning, and I was just walking around saying “Bless You, Bless You”… Poor Thing.
All of the sudden, Tucker came running into the room obviously upset. He was screaming, “Mom, look at my back, Look at it! He Blessed Youed on Me”
I was laughing to hard to be very sympathetic.
Funny Boy.

Having to Say Goodbye

This weekend, a beloved part of our family, Brian, Lexie, Sophie, and Nora, are beginning a new adventure as they make there way to Michigan.
There is a saying, “It is much easier to leave than be left…” This is the truth about our families feelings this week, as we had to say goodbye.
But it was not until the kids had a good swim together, and hopped on their “Rocket”

We are so excited for their new adventure and wish them well! Tucker has been praying alot for Sophie, especially that she won’t get in trouble. 🙂
We love you guys, and will miss having you so close!

Gotta Love those Little People

One of the toys that I love the mostest of my children is “Little People”. Thursday I was folding Laundry on the couch (I have fallen dreadfully behind, and now am just barely catching up…) and was casually listening to Truman as he was playing Little People on the other side of the room, when I heard him say something about food. I looked over to see this:

and this:

Then I heard him say, “Please share, everyone needs food”
How cute is that!? What a tender heart, how fun to see it developing, and that it is present during play.

Oh how I love this two year old!

The best part about the SCERA Swimming Pool is…

asleep.jpg
that my kids always fall asleep on the way home.
(For those of you who live in the area, and have never been there….you must go this summer! We swam for 3.5 hours today, and my boys would have stayed longer if I didn’t need to get home and started on dinner!)

A “Hubba-licious” Day.

I had the most delicious day on Tuesday, because…
begin.jpg
I got to spend the entire day, with my hubba. My wonderful mother took the boys, so I could attend Tophs’ work sponsored broadcast, and luncheon. It is not often when I get to hang with Toph at his work for an entire day, and I must be honest, it was better than I had expected, in fact I would go so far as to say it was a FANTASTIC day.
This was the first time I had been to Tophs’ new office, and to really get to know his co-workers and their spouses a little bit better.
(For those of you who still haven’t seen Tophs’ office, here are a few pics:)

And here is a picture of Toph outside of his office, next to his name plaque. (Trust me, it does say Christopher Phillips. I know it is all blurry. This is because I had to take it quickly while no one was in the hall. I think it must be hard on a fellow to have an embarrassing wife who is always taking pictures of weird things…)

Some of the highlights of the day included:
Watching my husband be a real life Rescue Hero, (putting the broadcast up on the internet, because the other site was down) Thanks Sister Em for your help too, he couldn’t have done it with out You 🙂

A backstage tour of the Audio and Visual Department at the Conference Center:

Eating Dessert at top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building:

I think I was trying to figure out what Christopher was doing when he took this picture, I thought he was just reviewing the pictures we had taken that day…
What a good combination, hubba and chocolate covered bananas. Yum.

Going back to the room where we had our wedding reception, over SIX years ago. The Empire Room.

I vividly remember the carpet for some reason.

Walking around Temple Square, the place where we were married, over SIX years ago!

And I won’t forget our casual “bump-in” with Elder Eyering–and my husband not noticing him. I guess that is a good sign CES employee?!
But the best part of this day was that it was full of our past, present and future.

A Tucker-Centered Afternoon

Last Monday Afternoon, I had a MAGNIFICENT day with Tucker. Truman took a super long nap after the busy weekend, and so I was able to just hang out with the Tucker-ster
In all of my Human Development Classes that I took FOREVER ago in college, we talked about having Child Centered Play. Where you let the child decide what to play, and just follow the childs’ lead.
I try to incorporate different types of play, but it is not often that I can take an entire afternoon to focus and follow Tucker, without having to stop and answer the phone, or make dinner, or just live life, but last Monday was a great day. It was a rare occasion and one that I want to remember. Hence the post.
I’m not sure exactly how it all happened, but Tuck got up from his quiet time, came up to the office, where I had just finished sewing some stuff, and had my sewing machine up, and he asked if he could sew something. I knew we would have sometime, so after following his lead, we ended up sewing a “Robot Blanket”. He chose out the material, and cut out the robots and even pinned them together. While I worked the sewing machine. (although he chose what stitches he wanted…)
If you have ever seen the robots that Tucker draws, these look exactly like them. It was fun to see his creativity flow, as he grabbed fabric from my scrap pile, and created these fun robots.
If I had known what we were going to be really making, (and the treasure that it has already become) I think I would have gotten better material, and spent a little bit more time sewing it together…but, I didn’t know. And truth be told, If I had known, and I had taken control of this situation by choosing out the fabric, and etc., it wouldn’t have been all about Tucker, and that is what made the afternoon wonderful. Tucker, and his creativity. Not the perfect blanket.
