A few days before Easter, after not finding four good matching Easter Outfits, I decided I would make something.

I’d toyed around with the idea of matching bow ties before, but due to time restraints, never was able to do it. But now, with no easter outfits in sight, the bow ties began, Then Lorelei’s skirt evolved, so she could match. (And the material actually came from an dress my sister gave me that I wore out, but loved so much I couldn’t part with it! Perfect for repurposing!) 🙂

When Easter arrived, I had big plans to get pictures before church, but Toph was talking in Sacrament, and we didn’t get everyone dressed and ready and packed for church in time! SO, these pictures were about 4:00 in the afternoon. After a full day of wearing these outfits, they were ready to get them off, and the bow ties that looked wonderful in the morning, were no longer stiffly starched and beginning to look wonky. 🙂

But NO Matter because, in my eyes, my kids are pretty darn cute, wonky bow ties, messy hair and all!

Grateful for holidays for time to get together with family, and have an excuse to brush up on my sewing skills.

How could a person not be excited about chocolate, jelly beans, blow up animals, bubbles and a new ball?

On a total side note, the Easter Bunny brought chocolate bunnies for each of the kids, and each bunny was hand chosen to match the child it belonged too. And Truman’s was a soccer bunny. It was wrapped up in a shiny foil wrapper, and the bunny looked official in his jersey and soccer gear. I laughed later as overheard Tru and Elliot talking, as they ate and unwrapped their bunnies, and Truman noticed that under the wrapper, the poor bunny was only wearing a bow tie. He exclaimed to Elliot, “it’s a good thing, this bunny isn’t real, because if he was, he’d be arrested for playing soccer with only a bow tie on!” HA! HA!

What’s not to love about dyeing eggs?

And a mess was made,

but isn’t that usually a sign of a good time?

So fun to watch each child die the eggs so differently.

And knowing that they will all end up just beautiful,

and unique.

Just like each of them!

And Tucker still got talent, a whole egg easily fits in his mouth, with room to spare. 🙂

Good Times, Good Times.

Recently, we Phillips Girls have begun a sewing class at Aunt Cathryns’ house, and it’s a delight.

I am loving learning more about the fine art of sewing, and having specific sewing questions answered, and having a chance to spend time with the sisters, Aunt Cathryn and my mother-in-law.

This is the second class we have had, and already I have learned oodles. 🙂

Graciously, my husband was watching the kids, so I could go, and learn.

The latest project? A ruffled dress for Ms. Lorelei.

Can’t wait for next class to finish it up!

And she’s also hit that ‘disaster everywhere’ phase. She is exploring, discovering everything, including digging in the flour bin, pounding the keyboard, banging the iPod, wanting to get into the toilet, and dumping, emptying everything. I’ve forgotten how exhausting this phase can be! 🙂

Reminding me that: Creating is rejuvenating for us all.

Came across this post yesterday about turning corners and Nurturing vs. pampering.
I love the thoughts that it contained.

Then, you understand what you need and you give it to yourself in those moments of stress, sadness, or exhaustion. … Learning what you need isn’t easy – and won’t be the same for everyone. A lot of times we totally avoid what we need because it is hard. It takes energy to create energy.”

Again, from Tara: “My two main changes have been these: I once pampered and now I nurture.
I once used my computer time as a way to avoid my reality and immerse myself into an entirely different one. Now, all that I want is my reality – my real, limited, fantastically beautiful and relentless life. Instead of using my computer time as a relief, I now see it as work, and I want to finish as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

Such a great post. She talks about turing a corner.

I feel as if lately, I have totally had a corner turning change in my life, I’ve always loved my life, but lately, I LOVE my life. I am able to handle the chaos more, and laugh more, and love more. I don’t just love my kids and husband, I LOVE THEM. I don’t know if they have felt the difference, but I have in every fiber of my body. I am more content with life, and it wasn’t that I was discontent before, but now I am just MORE content. I don’t know how else to explain it…

And to add to the randomness, Last night, we had a great mutual activity. The bishopric took us to a Water Treatment Plant (For Sewer Water) and we talked about Standards, and compared them to the sewage water and the sewage waste. It was a powerful evening for me.

The waste was gross, the message was powerful, and I have left thinking about how I don’t want my life to be dipping in that yucky filthy water that is so abundant in this world.

Random post. Random thoughts.

Every day there is homework. And everyday there is spelling tests.
Tucker is an excellent spelling test-er, and doesn’t mind doing them.

Tucker’s favorite spot to do spelling tests is on the back porch lately. 🙂

And Lorelei has been watching this process for quite a while, and now is following in her big brothers footsteps, she loves to take tests too. Now when she figures out we’re doing spelling tests, she promptly climbs to the table,

and begins her doodling. 🙂
