Alone.

Such a mellow little boy, especially when he’s all by himself.

With Big Brothers gone, he was able to play in the tub for nearly an hour, with no one splashing on him, or any rush to get out and get on with his day.

And his latest antics? Sticking those foam letters (which he calls boats?) between the glass shower doors, over and over, and over again.

Family Fun Day–One last grand adventure.

Before the kids went back to school, we had a family fun filled day. We originally had planned to go to Lagoon, but after consulting with the children, we let them set the agenda…and our day began.

Toph, Tuck and Tru started the early morning fishing.

And feeding the ducks.

Then off to Chuck-E-Cheese (where we played lots of games, rode rides, ate pizza and watched the scary robot people sing)

We arrived just in the nick of time to see Toy Story 3, at the end of the previews, just enough time for a quick picture. We all enjoyed it (even Elliot sat for over half the movie)!

Then we tried unsuccessfully to go bowling (We stopped at 4 bowling allies!!!) But the boys were content, as inbetween these bowling ally stops, we found a few D.I.’s (thrift stores) and they got to choose out a few treasures–
Tuckers prize find? Disgusting Science Kit (he’s trying to be disgusting in the picture too…yep, fingers in the nose, definitely disgusting)

Trumans prize find? At three different stores, he found three different matching rescue hero men/backpack/accessories. (he’s trying to be silly, tongue out? Silly)

Elliots prize find? A little peoples cozy coupe matchbox car, which you can’t see in this picture…but it was just to cute not to post.

With no luck in the bowling ally department, we decided to stop for dinner, at our favorite thai restaurant…(just looking at the food makes me hungry…yum).

Later met drove north to meet up with Grandma and Grandpa Phillips who took Tuck and Tru for one last trip to Logan, and to have a grand time with them and cousins before school started.

Fun to see the things they chose as the most important adventures to have before school came! (Who would have thought DI and bowling?) So grateful to have such fun loving crazy little boys, so sad to see the unofficial end of summer for our family. So fun to see and dream about new adventures ahead.

I’ve noticed that with good music, I can get things done faster, and feel happier whilst doing those yucky jobs that I just don’t like (right now it’s cleaning the kitchen…too many smells!)

Here are some of my favs….because come on, don’t we all want to get our yucky jobs done faster? 🙂 Hope you like them!

Mindy Gledhill

Sara Bareilles

Kyle Andrews

(really would love to be a youth again, and be in a water fight like that!)

Good luck with your to do lists today! And if you have music that makes your jobs happier/easier, let me know!

Happy Birthday to my Sweets

The birthday list tradition continues.

Even more than ever, I hope this year is full of wonderfulness and goodness for my Hubba.

Does he look older and wiser too?
This year mark 34 years, and so here’s the list of 34 things I love about my sweetheart.

1 How amazingly you strived to fill both the mother and father role whilst I was in bed sick with this pregnancy. How hard you tried to keep up on the laundry, dishes, cooking and cleaning, on top of the wonderful provider and father you already are.
2 That a simple joy for you is getting the mail.
3 How you truly magnify your calling as a Home Teacher.
4 Watching you find joy in our children…seeing the look on your face, and how happy your children make you and how you really, really enjoy being with them.
5 Your little phone calls to ‘check in’ with me through out the day.
6 When you discover new things, like this new band Pomplemoose, that you love, you can’t wait to share them!

7 Your constant little encouragements for me to do things you know I will love. But how I am so stubborn about things, and do it on my own time table, but once I do them, I realize that yet again, you’re totally right…I ALWAYS love the things you encourage me to do.
8 Sweet goodnight kisses.

9 Your love for nature, seeing the stars, hiking, and just being in this beautiful world!
10 How there has become, such a comfort of constantly hearing, the click, click, clicking noise of you working on your computer in the other room…
11 Your love for tv shows that seem utterly weird to me (Battlestar Galactica, Serenity, and etc.)

12 How occasionally you will wear certain shirts, because you know I like them…not because you like them.
13 How some nights when we get in bed, and I am almost asleep you will say something silly, and I will giggle and giggle and giggle…and then not be able to go back to sleep.

14 You shoot for your dreams, constantly, and then work to achieve them. You change the world, and make it a better place daily. And because of these things, big things happen, I mean how many people get to even apply for their absolute dream jobs? and you are practically face to face with it.
15 You let me think I am always right, even when I am not. But then once I realize that I am not right, and apologize, you never say I told you so, but keep that quirky little grin on your face.
16 There is never a moment when I don’t feel comfortable and safe in your presence.
17 Your dedicated scripture study.

18 You’re handsome. No if, ands, or buts about it. 🙂
19 The way you teach our children about being a hard worker and serving the Lord.

20 I love watching you enjoy good food. I still remember when we lived in Boston, and you eating Lobster at Legal Seafood.
21 You enjoy reading the sunday comics, (and hardly ever miss a week) and now read them with the kids..and laugh, so they know when the comic is supposed to be funny.

22 When you go to the library with the kids, how you can spend so much time there, searching and searching for the most perfect books for the boys. Helping them find things that fascinate them.
23 That you want to spend as much time as possible with your family, and strive to make our family time a priority. When you’re doing things with the family, you keep other distractions at bay.
24 Your ability to cook things, not from recipe, but by taste. It needs a little more cumin…
25 How amazingly you sleep through everything. EVERYTHING. Like me getting out of bed to go to the bathroom, screaming children, barking dogs, etc.
26 That you love a good trip to the D.I. as much as I do.

27 The very first thing you do when you come in the door from work, is come and find me, and give me a kiss. Even when you have 3 little boys clammering, screaming, and yelling for your attention.
28 That you scared me nearly to my death with that crazy snake movie. Meanie, then proceeded to belly gut laugh for like five minutes!
29 You’re an artist at heart, and I get to catch a glimpse of it every now and again in a doodle on a note or your photography, or when you make up lyrics to music.
30 Your compassion for those around you who are suffering, hurt, or sick.
31 I love that you are just as excited as me to someday serve a mission together.
32 Your ability to celebrate the small victories, even though for me, they are so easily missed.
33 How you still describe getting the ‘tinglies’ and are in love with me, even on my no makeup, baseball hat days.

34 That even though the saying is SO CHEESY, I can’t help but feel blessed to be married to my best friend. And I know how cheesy this sounds, but after the weekend, on Mondays, when you have to go back to work, I miss you so much, I end up calling you like 4906 times. And you don’t mind.

Happy Birthday Toph! So many things to love about you, hope your day is just as wonderful as you!
