Operation Chickens…

Meet the Chicks..
31
There are three of the ‘ladies’ at our house now. One for each of the boys.
tucknchicktrueliandchick
With these hens around, I am finally not outnumbered by testosterone anymore 🙂
Tucker and I thought it would be fun to name the chickens after the boys, you know, Chicken Tucker, Chicken Truman, and Chicken Elliot, but Toph wisely sugguested this was not a good idea. What if Chicken Tucker died? That would be sad.

I can see why people love baby chicks, this is the first time I have spent time with baby chicks…Look how soft and fluffy they are!

We’re hoping this chickens will help the boys learn some responsibility,

by taking care of the animals, as well as gathering the eggs.
My boys love the chickens.

Elliot Meets..

The Jogging Stroller.
elistroller
And he loves to be in it.
Unfortunately I don’t use it for jogging so much.
Elliot hangs out in there while I garden, chase children (kind of like jogging, right?) or take care of the chickens.
I am glad he likes it in there, I think he is content just to be out doors. He’s going to LOVE this summer!

Spring Break

The boys got an WHOLE ENTIRE WEEK OFF from school, for spring break this year. But unfortunately with a little baby, we were still trying to avoid crowds, so we had a dilemma what can we do that is fun, but without lots of people?

Well, the week started off nice and springy, so we played outside getting reaquainted with the bubbles

Water bottle spraying (my kids could do this for HOURS),
waterbottle
Water Messages,

watched lots and lots of Trumans new favorite movie: BOLT, (thanks Grams and Gramps!)

Started to plant our garden,

And Elliot showed us yet again, what a good baby is all about, He loves to be outside!

Then near the end of the week, is when we headed off to the Hunsakers Cabin for a get away. (Aren’t I lucky to have grandparents who share their cabin so freely?)
It wasn’t very springy, in fact there was ALOT of snow, but it was a wonderful get away.
My sister in law Em and her kids, and my friend Diana, and her kids, met in SLC and headed up together. We all had kids around the same age, and it worked out perfectly.
We swam,

Played in the snow some more, making icesicle fences (Owen’s lip is bleeding because one hit him, they really are dangerous!)

The cousins slept together, it took them like 2 hours to go to sleep, but they finally did!

The last day, Becca and Mike and their kids came, we’re so glad they came to join us!

We ate all of our meals together,

Swam some more,

Then at the end we played with some of Great Grandpa H’s Toys

We had so much fun together, a perfect way to get away, but not be surrounded by people.
Thanks for coming up and sharing a great spring break with us guys!

The Blessings of Blogs

One of the reasons I love my blog is the ability it provides me with which to connect to family.

Case and point, Cousin Pat. Pat is Toph’s cousin, (one of Hundreds I might add), I had met her on numerous occasions previously, but never really gotten to know each other very well. But one day Pat started a hilarious blog, and because of our blogs we have gotten to know each other.

Well, in April, Pat and her daughter Diana came up and we had a get together. A great dinner at Jen’s new beautiful house. It was WONDERFUL. We chatted, ate, and the kids ran around like cousins should (even though they’re not directly cousins, maybe second cousins?)

‘Thanks again Pat and Jen, It so fun to get together with you ladies!
And oh, yeah, have I mentioned I love blogs?

Creating…

Our Relief Society recently held an event, that was awesome, and inspired me, my family, as well as others in the ward. I was grateful to be a part of it.

The activity was all based upon this:

A beautiful Message from Elder Uchtdorf.

I found it to be true, that creating creates happiness. We encouraged the sisters to begin creating, or learn a new talent to display at our event, which was held in April. It was so fun to see all of the many talents in our ward.

In the time between January and April, I created many things, and developed new talents… I was grateful for this opportunity or chance given to us to do and try different things, which created happiness.
Here are some of the things I did,
Elliot Baby Blanket

Made Strawberry Jam

from these beautiful berries

Learned how to make a new bread receipe,

And a Cream Cheese Pastry.

Learned how to make Superhero capes,

In the process of me creating I began to watch the joy that came from my children creating. I was amazed. I have always felt that they were happiest when making things, but now I KNOW it’s true. Here is some of their handiwork

Oh, and there is so many more, but that is just a taste.

Here are a few shots from the Relief Society Fondue Creating Evening,

And lastly I found this, which makes me laugh:

I don’t want to be known as a cow.

Hope this inspires you to create, and find happiness there-in!

Yep Even More Easter, Don’t worry, this is the end!

Easter Tradition #9
EAT SO MUCH SUGAR, YOU FEEL SO SICK, YOU CAN’T GO TO SLEEP.
Doesn’t every kid do this? I think it is a right of passage for childhood. Granted, this is not a regular occurance at our home…But rather the days of Easter and Halloween and Christmas.
Truman was so exhausted by the end of our day in Idaho, he was not even thinking logically, and insisted on sleeping in a crib like Elliot.

And Tucker didn’t want to go to bed either, he left us this note:

Translation: Don’t go to sleep.

More Easter Traditions…

Easter Tradition #4
MORE EGGS MUST BE DYED, WITH THE EXTENDED PHILLIPS FAMILY, THESE POOR EGGS ARE NOT HIDDEN BY THE EASTER BUNNY
eggs
At least one time during the dying of eggs, you must use your hands, so they are discolored for a few days. Tuck and Madalyn did this excellently.
