With the new year, I like to take some time to re-evalutate things.
For me, it is a great time to reflect, renew, and recommit. Right now I am ready and excited for the new year.
The past few weeks I have thought alot about this new year, and the process of renewal. With a new baby, and an eight year old, I have had some powerful thoughts and reminders about this process of being fresh, clean and pure.
The past few years (like many bloggers) I have choose a word to remind myself of my goals for the year. This year I have chosen the word SIMPLE.
This word will hopefully be a reminder of a few things.
-It is in the simple things of life that I find the real joy. Be AWARE and LOOKING for these things, be PRESENT in daily life as this is where the simple things are.
-The best use of time is in those things I easily take for granted: time with my husband, children, and family.
-Keep things around my house simple..the less that is in my home, the less that I have to take care of. The more I can enjoy the simple things.
-Simplification of my schedule. Not over scheduling myself or my family. And sticking to our weekly and daily routines.
-Doing things simply and well can in many ways be better than big and elaborate.
-by small and simple things great things come to pass. The simple things like daily scripture study, temple attendance, and prayer are the best uses of my time.
And one of the first places I started my new ‘simplification’ was on my blog.
Goodbye old header:
And hello new:
And here’s to a simpler new year.

Love it! Both the header and your plan to simplify. 🙂
Emily, I love that picture on top! How beautiful. Simple is a great word to use as a yearly goal and reminder!
I love this. Everything. I was especially liking the one that says “the less that is in my home… the less I have to take care of”. It makes me want to purge purge purge our home of the clutter, and then really truly enjoy what is left. I’ve never done the pick a word thing, but if I did (and maybe I will) I’d have to go the same route.
I love the new pictures. You have the cutest kids!!! Simple is a great word for thi year. I hope to simplify too!!!
