Sorting, Sorting, Sorting…

Here’s what we did yesterday morning–

I love this phase, or sorting and stacking. Tuck found my scrapbook letters, and spent like 3 hours sorting them out into lines of matching letters of all the letters of the alphabet. (I think he would have been done sooner, but Truman messed things up, quite a few times! Still, Tuck was patient, and started again…)

All in a days work..

I had many errands to run yesterday, and the boys were happy to come, as long as they could wear these. Introducing my Partners in Crime…Crime Saving that is 🙂

I admit, we did get a few strange looks, but I don’t care! My kids were happy, and therefore so was I!

A belated Birthday Wish…

Yet Another Birthday Tribute to my wonderful Mother-In-Law,
Why do I love my mother-in-law? Let me list some of the reasons….
–Anyone who can raise 8 children (let it be noted that there is only a 13 year age gap from oldest to youngest), and still be a sane person, must be someone amazing.
–My kids have been blessed with their own personal dance instructor, who have taught them one of their favorite things, “Popping, popping, popping, POP!”
–Whenever we are in Logan, the boys always wake up early, and spend time with Grandma. (Allowing us to sleep in 🙂 )
–Have you ever tasted one of her chocolates? Yum Delicious.
–Her Sparkly, Wonderful, Peaceful Outlook on Life….
Here are some Pictures from her Party on Saturday:

Literacy.

So lately I have been thinking a lot about literacy–how blessed I am to know how to read. How reading has changed my life, and opened so many avenues, allowed me to experience and learn in ways that I never new possible. I think this has been a life long love, it never came easy to me, but still as a child I loved the TV Show Reading Rainbow, in college I began my children’s book collection, and now? Well take a look at pieces of my life…

One place I love and feel so grateful for is our Local Library. We are there twice a week right now—once a week for music and movement, and once for wee read. We are blessed as a society to have a place where we can grow, and our library provides our children with free/low cost amazing classes like Tucker’s Music and Movement Class. Recently the Deseret News did an article and slideshow about it, they came to the class right before Tuckers, so he is not in any of the pictures, but you can get a taste of what they offer–The teachers are truely amazing!!!

This week was Tuckers last class and I took a few videos of him at class…I love to watch my children learn
(disclaimer: Like I said, I love watching my children learn, this may be boring to you, but it is fascinating to me! 🙂 ).
The song they sing at the beginning–Come on Everyone

Using Hand Motions to discover Rhythm–

Using the Sticks–Hickory Dickory Dock

Using the Xylophone (Or Gloskenspiel as his teacher calls it)– to play the popcorn song

Again with the Xylophone– to do the Zoom song

Using the bells to do Tuckers all time favorite right now–Banana Phones (taken with the digital camera, lower quality)

Wee Read is another class, where children ages 18 months to 3 years old get to come and listen to Librarians read books, as well as do finger plays, and rhymes. Truman is currently enrolled, and loves his teachers, Mrs. Cindy and Mrs. D.W.
(of which I can’t find there picture for the life of me!! WHen I do, I will post it…)

Also, because of our overflowing small kids bookshelf, it was time to purchase another one. Previously the books were so crammed on our small shelf, that the kids could not even get them off by themselves–therefore they were not able to read them. In purchasing this new bookshelf and organizing the books I tried to make the books more accessible for my boys. Placing similar books in baskets, therefore encouraging independence for my boys…

How did we ever attempt at fitting these all on the small ones? And in case you were wondering, the big bookshelf is in the guest room closet. The boys love their new ‘reading cave’, and have spent more time in there with the doors closed ‘reading’ books, than in any other room lately. (Sometime this summer, I hope to sew a stuffed beanbag type thing for in there, but not until things slow down a little 🙂 )
But For now, I hope they continue to love reading, and therefore have the world opened up to them.
It’s a good day, how could I not be happy to have healthy active boys, who too share the love of reading!!!

For me to Remember–

“The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no monuments created in our honor. But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around. It’s overwhelming to consider the continuous opportunities there are to make our love felt.”
–Leo Buscaglia
A good reminder, and a happy thought leading into conference weekend…

Hopefully the last of the season…

So on Monday, we got a little bit of snow. When I say little–I mean little like 1 inch. Still, it had been a few weeks since the boys had seen snow, so they decided that they needed to get all the snow gear on, and go outside in the snow….

Even though there wasn’t much snow, it was cold!

Let us in we’re cold!
Let us hope this is the end of that for a while, I am ready for SPRING!

News and Weather Update.

Tucker got the News and Weather Binder from school again, he returned it today…
Here is the news according to our reporter, Tucker.
The italics are the comments added by his mother…
News about me:
3.jpg
I got 3 new dogs.
(Yes he did. He decided to start a stuffed animal dog collection…Which is a dangerous collection in my opinion. One that doesn’t end, and his father endorsed this collection by taking him and his brother to the DI and they each purchased 3 dogs. The dogs have since been ‘leashed’ to the end of Tuck’s bed and occasionally taken for a walk.)

Truman had a birthday a little while ago, Truman is my brother.
trutree.jpg
(Yep. Tucker is excited his brother is three, the older they get, the more they enjoy each other’s company. Let’s hope that continues!!)
And Sunday at Church I learned that Heavenly Father is True.
jesuschristwhite_medium.jpg
(The best news of all in my opinion… I am glad Tucker felt it was important to share this with his class.)

Weather Report:

Cloudy, cold and sunny.
(Can it be cloudy and sunny at the same time? I guess so! Very observant Tuck)
Well that’s the news from our neck of the woods, hope you’ll join us again next time 🙂

April Fools-ies

So, I am not a big fan of April Fools, but the boys and I decided it would be fun to ‘surprise’ dad with fun April Fools dinner that we saw in the Family Fun Magazine (I got a subscription for an awesome Christmas present from my awesome brother-in-law, Thanks Again, Brian!)…
So we told Toph we were having strawberry pie for dinner, which is partly true–we were having pie…
pie.jpg
Shepherds Pie.
The boys enjoyed playing a trick on Toph, and Truman even got a little tricked himself–Even though he helped me and Tuck make it, he was a little sad when he realized we weren’t having pie. I guess it’s hard to understand everything when you’re three years old. 🙂
